GM and Google have recently teamed up to make science fiction become reality. With the upcoming release of the Chevy Volt, there will also be an Android phone application to go along with the release. The app will allow owners of the Chevrolet Volt to be the hippest people around. An owner will be able to unlock and lock their vehicles with the app, as well as check charges and even possibly locate their vehicle.
The app will work with OnStar and allow for users of Google's Android phones to send directions from their phones to OnStar's voice navigation feature. The idea with the new partnership and new application is to allow for communication between your car and your phone. This communication and synergy can help out in many different ways.
The first way is that there will always be a backup. If you were to lock your keys in the car or leave them, say in the office, when you ran out to grab something, then your phone can be there to help, and it is instant.
Secondly, one of the major features will be able to check the charge of your Chevy Volt. Since the car will be relying on electricity to run, it will always be helpful to know just how much battery is left. If one knows the correct amount of charge still needed, then an owner could charge the vehicle while in the office or they will know that they will have to use some gas in order to get to their next destination. Overall, the information will allow for smarter driving and better knowledge of the vehicles' condition.
One of the greatest features of the application will be the ability to locate your vehicle. One of the greatest possibilities will be able to pinpoint your vehicle within a parking lot. This will allow even better navigation to your car, but if you still wanted to find your car through a noise, then there is no need to pull out your keys, just use your phone. Further, this will allow for better theft protection. The ability to instantly track and locate one's vehicle will mean that your investment will be better protected.
Overall, the application will be able to go through many different changes and hopefully add some awesome features, but for now, you can be sure that everybody will be looking at you when you can pull out your phone and have instant access to your car.
Now that is a nice complement to the Chevrolet Volt. It is car and phone synchronizing as one.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. I think this will make the Chevy Volt the car of the future.
ReplyDeleteI hope they add a feature that lets you navigate your car when you lose it in a parking lot.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing application. I hope that this will be made available to all cars and android users.
ReplyDeleteI wish that this application will also be made available for my used lincoln mkx which I bought last month. If that happens, I will be one of the happiest people along with others who have Chevrolet Volt cars.
ReplyDeleteThis application is only made available for Chevrolet Volt. For people who don't have a Chevy car, you can always have other alternatives. You can use GPS and other equipment available in the market today. You may also want to install car camera for safety purposes.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing more application like this one. Chevrolet Volt owners can enjoy their rides with this application only if they have an Android phone. I hope that they will be able to port this application to other cellular brands like Apple. Also, it would be a great idea for Google to create an application for several luxurious cars like Honda, Toyota and atlantic audi.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a very nice application for a car. It will allow the owners to safely lock and unlock the car using this application. I went to Westbury Toyota Service last month to have my car tuned up. I also asked them about this application. The person I talked to did not have any idea on whether this application will be made available to Toyota cars. Anyway, I hope that it will be ported to Toyota and other cars as well.
